Greetings,

We will be performing a number of upgrades for our customers tonight (6/16/2007) starting after 10PM CDT that will incurr some downtime. The list of upgrades include:

1) Rebooting all of our servers (shared, vpses, managed customers) with the recent CentOS 4.5 kernel release. The downtime for these reboots should only last a few minutes with the VPS customers taking a bit longer (due to the overhead from rebooting all the VPSes) for the reboot.

2) We will also be upgrading the memory on blade5.netwisp.com from 4GB to 6GB of RAM.

3) Moving our customers on cpanel1.netwisp.com to a faster, more powerful server. The downtime for this migration is expected to last around thirty minutes when the data is synchronized between the two servers.

I will update this ticket tonight as we progress through these upgrades.

If you have any questions about tonight's work, feel free to contact us through our help desk at https://support.netwisp.com and we'll be be glad to help.

Thank you!

Greetings,

We have started the initial copy phase for the server migration along with rebooting the servers with the kernel updates. I will update this topic as things progress.

Greetings,

We have updated all of the kernels on our shared hosting servers and are now proceeding with the VPS servers. vps1.netwisp.com is currently being rebooted, but Linux wanted to check the file system after the reboot, so fsck will need to be completed before the VPSes are brought back online (currently at 30%). I will update this topic when it has completed.

Thank you for your patience in this matter.

The fsck operation has completed on vps1 and the VPSes are coming back up now. We are proceeding with updating the rest of our VPS servers.

I will provide another update when we are completed with the VPS servers.

We have completed the kernel updates for all the servers along with upgrading the ram in blade5.netwisp.com. However, we were unable to move the contents of cpanel1.netwisp.com to the new server - there is a problem where the new server won't boot with the data - so we have cancelled the migration for now. We will attempt the upgrade again when we have resolved the issue and will send out another notice for everyone.

If you have any questions or notice any problems, feel free to contact us through our help desk at http://support.netwisp.com and we'll be glad to assist you.

Thanks for your patience tonight while we performed these upgrades.

Hello,

We have resolved the issues we encountered last weekend with the migration and will be performing the transfer of cpanel1.netwisp.com to a new server tomorrow night on June 23rd, 2007 starting after 10PM CST. We expect the downtime to last around thirty minutes when we perform the final switch over to the new server.

A new topic on our forms will be opened for this project.

Thank you!
